Sweetgrass is a sacred North American plant and ritual that represents braiding mother earth's hair. A sweetgrass braid is often gifted as a housewarming to attract the good energies to the new home, or to the welcoming of a newborn child. Sweetgrass is to be hung on a wall and provides gentleness and protection. 

It is also possible to burn it and use it for smudging.
